About Stepping Stones Nursery School
Your child’s early years are the stepping stones to their
future. Stepping Stones Nursery School is dedicated to
providing your child with high quality care in a warm and
nurturing environment.
Children learn through play and we are dedicated to providing
your child with a meaningful and exciting learning experience.
Our goal is to compliment parental care and encourage the
feeling of self-worth, independence, and acquire a positive
attitude towards learning and school.
Stepping Stones Nursery School is a multi-cultural community
based school. Our teachers endeavour to be respectful and
sensitive to the values, needs and beliefs of the families we
serve.
Our program follows the public school board's schedule and is
closed on all professional development days, statutory holidays,
Christmas - New Years break and March Break. The academic
year runs from early September to mid-June.
Licensing
The Ministry of Community and Social Services (MCSS),
Children's Services Division, licenses Stepping Stones Nursery
School. The Day Nurseries Act sets standards for health,
safety, and fire protection, qualified staff and equipment. The
license permits enrolment of 16 children ages 2.6 - 5 years per
session. Children must be 2.6 years by September 1st of the
school year. We maintain a 2:16 ratio.
Annual inspections are made by a Program Supervisor from the
MCSS, a Fire Inspector and a Health Inspector from the
Regional Health Unit.
